In rough order of how much they typically matter.
- Length and number of leak paths
- Only properly established once the structure is surveyed while actively leaking.
- Port spacing and section thickness
- Thicker sections need more ports per metre, since spacing is set at roughly half the section depth.
- Resin consumed
- A crack connected to a large void takes far more resin than a discrete one, and this is genuinely unknowable in advance.
- Access
- Injection at height, in a lift pit or in a confined basement is slower and needs additional provision.
- Resin type
- Foaming and flexible gel resins differ in cost and are selected by whether the crack is live.

Warning signs in a cheap quotation

- No 24-72 hour observation period before handover
What pu grouting involves
PU grouting injects polyurethane resin under pressure into a leaking crack or joint. The resin reacts with the water it meets, expands into a closed-cell foam or flexible gel, and seals the leak path from within. It is the standard remedial technique for actively running leaks, because it uses the water present rather than requiring a dry substrate.

Why will you not publish a rate for this?
Because a rate quoted without seeing the building is either meaningless or misleading. The condition of the existing structure changes the number more than anything else, and it cannot be assessed over the phone. We publish what drives the cost instead, so you can interrogate any quotation — including ours.
What makes two quotations for the same job differ so much?
Almost always the invisible work. Only properly established once the structure is surveyed while actively leaking. Beyond that, the items most often trimmed are preparation, curing time and testing — none of which are visible at handover and all of which decide whether the system lasts.
What should I check before accepting a quotation?
That it states thickness, curing period, junction and penetration detailing, and what testing is carried out before anything is covered. A quotation that omits all four is not comparable to one that states them, whatever the headline rate says.
Is the site inspection chargeable?
No. The inspection and the itemised scope that follows are free and carry no obligation. You are free to take that scope to any contractor.
